We all strive to be ‘kind to the planet’ and take responsibility for our own carbon footprint, but this can lead to the air inside our homes being ‘ten times more polluted than the air in the street’ (Building Research Establishment Report 1996).

The desire for better insulated homes, combined with the DIY surge and our exposure to a wider range of materials, paints and cleaning products, which produces volatile organic compounds (VOC’s), increases the danger of polluting the very environments that we automatically think of as ‘safe’.

The average adult spends 90% of their time indoors, and consumes about 40kg of air every day. This air can contain a variety of dangerous gasses such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and nitrogen dioxide that circulate at random.

Airtight environments quickly become stale and heavily contaminated, leading to reduced health and comfort.

Radon is an odourless gas that comes from the minute amount of uranium found in water, soil and rocks. It is harmless in the outdoor air, but when trapped within a dwelling can be extremely dangerous to your health.
