02/12/2011 Why you should have a 'Competent Person' to install your MVHR System

From January 2012, by having your ventilation system installed by a competent person will reduce the 40% specific fan power penalty applied to Heat Recovery Ventilation (MVHR) to 30% and the 30% penalty for a Central Extract Ventilation (MEV) to 25%. If the house builder chooses a ‘Competent Person’ to install their system it will unlock a SAP benefit which will improve a building’s DER.

Under the scheme a trained contractor must be a member of a Competent Person Scheme and they’ll make sure that the installation is in line with all the competency requirements.
