Ground to Air Heat Exchanger
A ground to air heat exchanger (GAHX) works in conjunction with the Heat Recovery Ventilation System to really make the most of your natural surroundings. Sometimes referred to as Earth Pipes, ground to air heat exchanger works by drawing air through an underground network of pipes, the ground to air heat exchanger provides an extremely cost effective source of renewable energy by using the temperature of the ground. At depths of 1.5 to 2 metres, the earth’s temperature, in the UK, is a constant 8-12 °C regardless of the time of year or the outside air temperature.
A ground to air heat exchanger significantly reduces your heating and cooling bills as well as providing long-term environmental benefits. We have been monitoring one of our customers pipe temperature and comparing it with the actual temperature - see the results here. The pipe is made of polypropylene and comes complete with a unique integrated antimicrobial layer, made of silver particles. This prevents microbial growth on the inside of the pipe, which would otherwise cause musty smells. The air inlet also has a dust and pollen filter, further benefiting allergy sufferers.
