Code for Sustainable Homes

The Code for Sustainable Homes is the national standard which sets six, star-rated levels for the sustainable design and construction of new homes, by measuring the sustainability against nine categories. The Code supports the government target that all new homes will be zero carbon from 2016 and all publicly funded homes to be zero carbon from 2013.

Code for Sustainable Build

The Code sets minimum standards for energy and water use at each level and, within England, replaces the EcoHomes scheme, developed by the Building Research Establishment (BRE).

The Code will provide important information to home buyers, and offers builders a tool with which to distinguish themselves in sustainability terms.

Modern homes are designed to be airtight, creating an almost complete seal, which leads to the internal air being stale, unpleasant and polluted. It is therefore important to have the correct type of ventilation and to follow to Code for Sustainable Homes.

How can our systems help?

ADM’s ventilation systems increase comfort and healthy indoor environments and go a long way to meeting new Government targets towards sustainable living.

A heat recovery ventilation system:

  • removes stale air, stale odours and harmful pollutants and simultaneously replace this stale air with a supply of fresh air
  • recovers and re-use up to 98% of extracted heat and provide a super-efficient and environmentally friendly alternative to draughty windows, extractor fans and trickle vents
  • helps to achieve a healthy, unpolluted indoor environment by extracting moisture and condensation and unsightly mould
  • uses long-life, low-energy DC motors that further reduce overall running costs and carbon footprints

At ADM we are more than ready for the airtight home of 2016.
