Ventilation heat loss is a problem

Domestic buildings alone contribute 30% of the UK's CO₂
emissions. With new house building targets increasing over the coming years,
the effect on energy consumption is likely to be substantial.

Open windows, extractor fans and trickle vents can cost you 40% of your heating bill.
For example: a 6" kitchen extractor fan can expel hot air from the home at a rate of 300 cubic metres per hour. With an internal temperature of 20ºC and an external temperature of 0ºC, that's a heat waste of 2kW.

Take the example of the 6" extractor fan; around half a million conventional 6" extractor fans are sold in the UK every year. Multiply the heat waste of 2kW by 500,000 fans, that's a waste of one million kilowatts!

Wasting heat causes us to burn more fossil fuels than we need, contributing to global warming and ozone depletion - the Greenhouse effect.
